Shirley Brewer speaks on Jumpstart Your Creativity: Embrace Your Inner Plork. How many times have you said, or heard someone else say, “I don’t have a creative bone in my body”? Here’s a revelation: you’ve been focusing on the wrong body parts!!! In Jumpstart Your Creativity: Embrace Your Inner Plork, an interactive experience, Poet Shirley Brewer will help you shift that focus back to where it belongs, the rich territory of your brain, the Home of Creativity. The purpose of this Plorkshop (PLORK = PLAY + WORK) is to help you embellish your life journey, and open yourself to your Creative Path. The Plorkshop is an Approach, a way to see things differently. Participants will each receive a copy of The Plork Humanifesto to help reinforce new ways of seeing. Shirley will mix in some fun Plork Exercises to accessorize this experience. Is that enough to tempt you? Be prepared for surprises and joyful discoveries, as you embrace your inner Plork!

7:40-8:25- Nancy Goldblatt, the Wardrobe Wizard, speaks on I Love Comfort: Five Secrets of Looking Stylish Without Sacrificing Comfort. I Love Comfort.
8:25-8:30- Door Prizes
Nancy Goldblatt, the Wardrobe Wizard, speaks on I Love Comfort: Five Secrets of Looking Stylish Without Sacrificing Comfort. I Love Comfort. Nancy says, “Many of my clients have said they want to be comfortable but they need to look “current.” At the same time they don’t want to spend a lot of money on clothes because they are trying to lose weight. I frequently hear “Before I hire you, I need to lose weight.” I really understand this because for many years, before I learned the secrets of choosing clothing right for me, I put my life “on pause,” because I refused to buy new clothes until I lost weight.”
I had a closet full of clothes in several sizes but only a few things that fit so I ended up wearing those few comfortable outfits to work every day. When I got invited out I had “nothing to wear,” but clothing that didn’t fit or was threadbare. As a result, I had to turn down invitations to go out and I spent a lot of time home alone feeling sorry for myself.
Magic happened for me when I got trained by Color I Associates as a Personal Image Consultant and I was able to become my own fairy godmother. Now when I am invited out I do not have to panic or say no because I have flattering mix and match items that actually fit me at my current weight.
What would your wishes be if you had a fairy godmother? Would you ask for a pared down closet filled only with lots of “mix and match separates,” so comfortable they feel like pajamas. Would you ask for the ability to choose colors that make your eyes sparkle and your skin look radiant? Imagine being able to shop with confidence and get dressed in a “flash,” because you have a wallet of 40 of your best colors and line drawings of styles that flatter your unique body shape?.
Looking good is not about being superficial, it’s the ability to feel confident wherever you go. The good news is that a “balanced appearance,” allows others to instantly see your “real beauty,” and to recognize how competent and intelligent you are. Here’s some not so good news. I doubt it is even news to you. The fashion and beauty industries often keep women from feeling good about themselves. They do this by perpetuating the myth that in order to look good, a woman must be tall, thin, “forever young looking,” and be wearing the latest trends.
“The Wardrobe Wizard” wants to be your fairy godmother and show you in this fun and interactive presentation that whatever your age, weight or body type, you can look great, feel confident and wear styles & colors that are flattering to YOU. Come get your own magic wand by attending this talk and learn about the five secrets you need to begin transforming your existing wardrobe without sacrificing comfort.
Nancy Goldblatt, “The Wardrobe Wizard of Baltimore,” is a certified “Color 1,” Personal Image Consultant. Her work in image consulting is an outgrowth of her journey to feel and look good in her own, “short, plump,” body. Since 1990 she has been dedicated to freeing women from the “Barbie Doll Beauty Myth.”
Nancy specializes in working with women who want to look good but are tired of wasting time and money on uncomfortable, unflattering clothing. In addition to being an image consultant, she has been a teacher and is currently working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
“The Wardrobe Wizard,” is available for talks, workshops and fundraisers as well as individual appointments. She is based in Baltimore, Md. Her website is www.WardrobeWiz.com. |
