Shirley Brewer speaks on Jumpstart Your Creativity: Embrace Your Inner Plork. How many times have you said, or heard someone else say, “I don’t have a creative bone in my body”? Here’s a revelation: you’ve been focusing on the wrong body parts!!! In Jumpstart Your Creativity: Embrace Your Inner Plork, an interactive experience, Poet Shirley Brewer will help you shift that focus back to where it belongs, the rich territory of your brain, the Home of Creativity. The purpose of this Plorkshop (PLORK = PLAY + WORK) is to help you embellish your life journey, and open yourself to your Creative Path. The Plorkshop is an Approach, a way to see things differently. Participants will each receive a copy of The Plork Humanifesto to help reinforce new ways of seeing. Shirley will mix in some fun Plork Exercises to accessorize this experience. Is that enough to tempt you? Be prepared for surprises and joyful discoveries, as you embrace your inner Plork!

After a thirty-year career as a speech therapist, Shirley Brewer pursued her Creative Muse at the University of Baltimore, where she earned her Master of Arts degree in Creative Writing/Publishing Arts in May 2005. Prior to graduation, Shirley won the first University of Baltimore Creative Writing Award for Excellence in Plorking. PLORK, a combination of play and work, is the keystone of the creative writing program at UB. She worked as an adjunct professor, teaching writing to undergraduates at UB for three semesters. She has also developed Plorkshops, which help people embellish their life journeys, and learn how to open up to more creative paths.

Shirley started her own business, POETIC LICENSE, in which she creates original, personalized verses for all occasions. Find her on the Web at www.givingpoetry.com

Her new venture is POETRY FOR BUSINESS. Shirley creates mini verbal portraits of you and your business to use as Ice Breakers, telephone answering machine messages, or in your print advertising.
